University of Alaska Fairbanks
Nutrient Analytical Facility
Providing marine and freshwater nutrient analysis
We provide the most accurate and precise data possible for nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, silicic acid, and ammonium.
Analyses are carried out on frozen samples based on protocols described in the GO-SHIP Repeat Hydrography nutrient manual.
Considerations for sample submission
Price per sample: $21 (UA) or $29 (outside UA). Sample analysis includes nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, silicic acid, and ammonium values.
We are unable to analyze acidified samples or those poisoned with mercuric chloride.
Analysis requires a 30 mL sample minimum.
Recommended collection protocolsWe require a minimum of two weeks' notice prior to submitting samples. This ensures that reagents, reference materials, and standards are available for the number of samples being submitted.
Samples must be shipped frozen. Please contact us for shipping recommendations, or to arrange pickup at the Alaska Air Cargo facility in Fairbanks.
